| Market | Requirements to review for adult apparel | Documentation to discuss |
|---|---|---|
| USA | Review FTC fibre content, country-of-origin, responsible-business and care labelling rules; clothing textile flammability under 16 CFR 1610. Review applicable state chemical and finish restrictions for the destination. | Discuss fibre analysis, applicable flammability evidence, labelling and any destination-specific chemical testing in the order plan. |
| Canada | Textile Labelling Act and Regulations: fibre content and dealer identity, including applicable English/French requirements. Review textile flammability obligations. Care labelling is generally voluntary federally; provincial language requirements may also apply. | Discuss fibre content, labelling review and applicable flammability evidence. |
| European Union | Review textile fibre labelling under Regulation (EU) 1007/2011, applicable REACH restrictions and GPSR obligations, including traceability and the responsible economic operator. Voluntary textile certificates are separate from legal requirements. | Discuss the product-specific labelling, restricted-substance and traceability documentation needed for your sales channel. |
| Australia | Consumer Goods (Care Labelling) Information Standard 2023 applies to covered clothing and textiles. Care instructions may use English, recognised symbols or both as permitted. Product and origin claims must be accurate. | Discuss the appropriate care label and any buyer-requested fibre or chemical checks. |
Requirements change; final compliance is confirmed per product and per market with the buyer and an accredited laboratory. A proposed testing plan is not a claim that this product is already tested, certified or approved.
A buyer-selected testing plan can cover tensile and tear strength, seam strength and slippage, colorfastness to washing, light, rubbing and perspiration, dimensional change, pilling, abrasion and water repellency. The laboratory confirms current test methods, scope, sampling and acceptance criteria before any testing is commissioned.
| Document | What it covers | Availability / arrangements |
|---|---|---|
| REACH / restricted-substance report | Applicable restricted chemicals for the selected material and destination | Scope and laboratory arrangements to be agreed before ordering. |
| Azo dye, formaldehyde and pH reports | Selected dye and chemical parameters | Confirm the requested methods, scope and laboratory before testing. |
| Clothing flammability report | Applicable garment/fabric flammability assessment, including US 16 CFR 1610 where relevant | Testing scope and evidence to be agreed for the exact material/product. |
| Physical performance reports | Strength, colorfastness, shrinkage, pilling and abrasion as specified | Methods, performance targets and laboratory to be agreed. |
| Shipping documents | Commercial invoice, packing list and applicable origin/transport documents | Documentation agreed with the buyer for the shipment. |
